Leadership

The purpose of leadership in the church is to build up the saints for the work of service. Ephesians 4:11-12 says, And he gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fulness of Christ.

Richard Snell, Elder

At age 74 I have hopefully learned a few things in my spiritual journey. It began at the age of nine when I walked to the front of the the assembly in Englewood, Kansas, and confessed my faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God.  After my immersion into Christ for the forgiveness of my sins (Acts 2:38), my spiritual life in time became inconsistent. Because of my upbringing and the encouragement of my mother I attended all the assemblies of the church regularly.  But many of my friends were not in Christ and they influenced me far more than I like to admit.  During high school I lived too much like my unsaved friends, so they no doubt could see that I was a hypocrite.  During my senior year I came to my senses, repented, and recommitted my life to my Lord.

I attended Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma City, where I met Thelma Sack whom I married in 1954.  God gave us four healthy and intelligent children, all of whom now try to serve the Lord faithfully.  Thanks to men like Don Pinon, Don Heese and Bob Blanshan, I gradually moved to a more biblical position in my convictions and my teachings.  My wife and I have tried to serve our Savior faithfully everywhere we have lived.  When I retired in 2007, we returned to Lexington, NE, where we had lived twice before and where all four of our children graduated from high school.  The church here (at 13th & Tyler) under the strong leadership of Nathan Rhea provides us with loving and encouraging fellowship and a delightful place to serve.  Now ministering as an elder in the congregation, it is my goal to help lead the congregation into an ever closer walk with Christ and--to say the same thing--a more exact conformity to the New Testament pattern for the church.

Lauren Snell, Elder

The son of Richard Snell, I have two children who attend the church in Lexington (Mark and Trisha), and have been married to my wife Donnetta since 1979.  I have been a Christian more than 40 years. I attended Gering (NE) School of Evangelism for two years in 1976-1978. After leaving Gering we moved to Platte City, MO, where I served in the church there.  During that time I was employed by Future Foam, Inc., as an assistant plant manager.  We moved to Lexington, NE (the town where I graduated from high school in 1976), where I was employed by as an electrical lineman.  During most of that time I served as the church treasurer. We currently reside in North Platte, NE.
